I think by now everyone knows how much I love dogs. It's obvious and I meet new pups everyday. I'm lucky. Some people ask me, "How can you meet strange Pit Bulls from shelters.. aren't you afraid?" Answer...no...not ever. Now let me clarify. I have respect for all creatures. I never overwhelm, or grab any dog I don't know, big or small. I always ask questions to those handling them. I can tell you, that the bully breeds I have met, have been incredibly loving, sensitive and affectionate.
October is Pit Bull awareness month. Many shelters and groups have special programs designed to help potential adopters and the public understand the Bully breed. There are fantastic TV shows these days, like Pit Bulls and Parolees and Pit Boss both on Animal Planet which give great insight into these loyal companions. Let me tell you a few of my bully tales.....
Ice is a senior bully (or elder bull), found living loyally in a car with her owner, she is a kisser, cuddler and is a pup ambassador at St. Huberts critter corner and an all around K9 good citizen. I love her. check out her "senior dogs rock" video on the Rock N' Ruff page, or click on the link to see it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pp-NfYreoao&feature=channel&list=UL
Frank was horribly abused and used as a bait dog, and is still grateful for human companionship. He is waiting for his forever home at Noah's Ark.
Edith is a deaf pittie and knows more commands and is easier to handle than my dog, who hears perfectly. She is now a cherished family member.
Faith was left by the side of the road with a broken leg. She is rehabilitated, in foster care and kissed my face off the minute I met her. Thanks to Randolph Animal Pound for saving her.
Clyde is looking for a family. He's a big goofball. Fun and silly and at Randolph Animal Pound.
I could go on and on...but the main goal of this blog is to let you know that Pittie's were bred to be a companion to man. They are loving and mega loyal. They are like any other dog. Love them and they'll love you back.
October is Pit Bull awareness month. Be aware that breed specific legislation is wrong. And there are wonderful bully's in shelters everywhere. Meet one. Perhaps you'll find a fit!
