So....without power in so many NJ towns for so long, where can residents go with their animals? The Mennen Arena on East Hanover Ave in Morristown. I was blown away when I heard about the efforts at Mennen to house citizens from the cold and allow them to have somewhere take their furry family members. This has also been made possible by the incredible Morris County Animal Response Team. I have been at many events with these folks and they are amazing! Natural disasters...they are there to help....desperation with nowhere to go?...they are there to help. I am so proud and humbled by these amazing community members and volunteers who work around the clock to make sure families that need a warm, safe place to go have their furry family members cared for.
There is a great need however for supplies for so many animals in need so please stop by Mennen or head to the Agway on Ridgedale Avenue in Cedar Knolls and donate pet food, dog coats, kitty litter, bowls, cleaning supplies, bleach and paper towels. They are there all day beginning at 8a and will be taking donations. They are also looking for volunteers, so if you can help out...please do.
Thank you to the Morris County Animal Response Team AND the Mennen Arena. Without you...what would we do? As someone who would NEVER leave my dog, these folks are angels.
Here is a picture of the amazing operation (tents, and generators) and Tucker who works for the Morris County Animal Response Team (and Mr. August in our 2012 Ultimate Rock Dogs Calendar) Tuck provides comfort, kisses and comic relief for shelter residents. I love his mush!
