I'm so freakin' proud!! And he's not even my dog! Congratulations to DHA Morning Jolt co-host Kim Mulligan and her Labradoodle Sam. Sam passed his Pet Therapy evaluation and is now a Paws for People Certified Therapy Dog! Paws For People is a great group out of St Huberts Animal Welfare Center (one of my favorite places) whose dogs help people in need. Therapy Dogs aid those who are sick, depressed, learning to read or just need some basic cheering up. I have seen what they can do for people first hand, having seen their training used on my own family members. They are remarkable little angels. My hat goes off to Kim who has been such a Rock N' Ruff supporter donating her own time and resources to help homeless animals, for seeing that special quality in Sam. She inquired and set her mind to getting him ready for his test! Sam had to pass a 5 page evaluation which included meeting strangers, dealing with medical equipment such as wheelchairs and walkers, not being distracted by loud noises, and much, much more. He kicked doggie  -ss!

Sam will now move into a few appearances with his Therapy Dog mentor at hospitals and will soon receive his "blue vest" after a few more sessions. It is so wonderful to think Kim and Sam will be helping people. I love them both!
