I am so proud of Animal Planet! Two of their most popular shows focus on the beauty of the Bully. The Pit Bully. I figured with St. Pats this week, we could talk about St. Pits in this week's blog and talk about two of my favorite shows. Let me begin by saying 5 years ago, I didn't know that much about Pit Bulls. I only knew two and loved them both so much and totally ignored the bad press they often got. Then, I started doing Rock N' Ruff...meeting Pits from shelters and I fell in love with these loving, connected to humans companions.
I started watching Pit Bulls and Parolees in 2009. Tia Maria Torres was the reason I started watching. A woman after my own heart. No nonsense, no schmaltz, no talk...all walk, Tia gives parolees the chance to work with dogs who needed them, and Pit Bulls who need love and attention just that and homes to boot. She is an amazing woman. With the help of her family second chances are out there for all. Fast forward to 2010 and the inception of Shorty Rossi. A little person, who served time in prison and used his second chance to make a difference in the life of Pit Bulls. He opened a little person talent agency to pay for his plight to save these dogs, and the adventures ensue.
These two shows on Animal Planet are not only inspirational, but show us that advertisy is a part of life that affects us all. Dogs included. They also show the loving nature of the worlds most misunderstood breed of dog. Why do we judge each other? What's the point? And don't judge these dogs. Most come from conditions where humans have let them down and they still continue to trust. That's what dogs do. If you have never seen either of these shows....WATCH THEM on Animal Planet. Not just because you love dogs, but because they will change you for the better. Even if just for the hour that they are on. I swear.....
btw....the cutie in the hat....is Nathan....up for adoption at Eleventh Hour Rescue....!
Happy St. Pitties Day....Opt to Adopt!
