Our generation is so lucky to have grown up when we did!! Madonne! Of course, we were so fortunate to have experienced that golden age of American culture known as the hair band era!! Prior to that, we learned the importance of perfect hair and a winning smile from the greatest teen idols in the history of mankind.
I pity these poor kids today. What a sorry bunch of teen idols they got stuck with! Is that sfacheem Justin Beiber really the cream of the teen idol crop nowadays?? Madonne!! Compare and contrast the modern teen idol to those of days gone by. I’m sorry I just gave you agita...My apologies.
Think about the influential dreamboats we had in the ‘70s. Could there have been a Jon Bon Jovi, if there had not been a Leif Garrett?? The hair, the smile, the moves!!! It all started with Leif. Don’t believe me?? Check out Leif’s guest appearance on CHiPs. And speaking of CHiPs, how about that Officer Frank Poncherello?? If his uniform were any tighter, he’d suffocate.
The list of heart throbs is endless. There was Scott Baio. Wah wah wah, Chachi Arcola! How about David Cassidy with that puka shell necklace? And don’t you dare forget his satin jacket wearing half-brother Shaun Cassidy. That adorable Karate Kid Ralph Macchio sparked my lifelong interest in the martial arts. That’s right…I can kick your ass into tomorrow and don’t you forget it.
No one comes close to the magnificent John Travolta. He can sing...Ba Ba Ba Ba Barbarino!! He can dance…Don’t hit Tony Manero’s hair! Those blue eyes, that voluminous hair, that chin dimple! He rides a mechanical bull and flies a frickin’ plane! He was “The Boy in the Plastic Bubble”! Who told him to ride that horse? What sad movie! It was the greatest made for TV movie ever, with the exception of “The Burning Bed” starring the iconic Farrah Fawcett.
I’ve educated you enough for today. Thank you for reading House of Tarantella. Grazie, mi amici!!
Ciao!!
