50 years.....Holy canoli. The Rolling Stones are, were and will always be hands down my favorite band of all time. It was the Stones who pre-ordained me as a rebel. Yup....they did. I first saw them on a tire cake on my parents "Let it Bleed" album. It was a life altering moment for me when I heard Gimme Shelter as a kid...I was changed. My first Stones concert experience was as a grade schooler in 1978 at The Capitol Theater in Passaic with a friend of mine whose dad worked for a concert promoter. I will never forget it. It was my watershed rock moment. The energy, chaos and magnetism of that band can never be copied. My jaw hung open and my ears couldn't get enough. And forget the visual. Jagger the rebel gazelle of rock and Keith, the definition of defiance. I was hooked. My Stones experiences are too many to even describe. I saw them countless times over the years. The excitement I feel when they take the stage always brings me back to my first TRUE rock experience. I met them in the 90's and again in 2005. I followed Keith Richards around backstage until he put his ciggy out and I stole the butt! I did....it's framed in my house.....I can die happy.
BTW...HBO will premiere the Stones Documentary "Crossfire Hurricane" this Thursday night at 9p. I hear it is incredible.
The Stones have a new greatest hits collection out called GRRR!! And they have two dates coming to the Prudential Center in December on the 13th and the 15th and one coming to Barclays in Brooklyn on December 8th.
