We had an amazing time during the filming of Pralaya at WDHA!! The band has been together for years playing music, but they truly feel that finding their lead singer, Alef Knales, with his very distinct and moving way of singing, made everything finally gel into place.....As a result, we now have their first album " Matter of Time".
Their sound is very ambient with a progressive rock edge as well. It's really hard to put into words, so I highly suggest you check out their acoustic performance below, or catch a live show! You can find everything pralaya at www.facebook.com/Pralayaband or www.pralayaband.com. In fact, they have a live show coming up this weekend 3/9 at The Trash Bar in Brooklyn. If you are free, absolutely head on down and give them your full support, they already have mine!
What an honor to finally have the gems of Blisstique inside the WDHA Homegrown Spotlight Blog!!!! Their sound is so unique for this segment, and their passion/musicianship is beyond amazing! I wanted them to keep performing as we filmed for the blog!
Lead singer Peter Klein and I are brother/sister from another mother/father? In some realm I do think we are connected, not just by the name, but by music and hey even yoga! We were meant to meet, that I know. I am a huge fan/supporter of my friends in Blisstique, and I definitely encourage you to check out their performance below, or a live show if you can!
If I had to describe the band I'd say they are passionate, talented, NICE, entertaining, and just an absolute joy to watch. I literally was smiling from ear to ear at them perform. Please please give my friends ...
Water Street was an absolute pleasure to have on the WDHA Homegrown Spotlight Blog. Do not be fooled by their young faces, they are beyond mature in their talents and professionalism. Starting off as a cover band, they have expanded their musicicanship and now have original tunes as well! In fact, they have a video for their original song, "Outer Space" out right now!
Thank you Water Street for your beautiful talent, personalities, and unique sound for the WDHA Homegrown Spotlight Blog. I loved meeting you, and seeing how passionate you all were at such young ages, your future is very bright! Shade worthy in fact! (ask your parents what that means, kidding!)
Water Street has a beautiful cheerful sound. I personally love love love, when Claire and Dave harmonize, just amazing! Then there's Milly, is there an instrument you can't play? So, so much love to Water ...
Oh man did we have a good time when Revel9 came to WDHA for the blog! I think you can tell by our interview, lead singer DJ, and myself being a DJ, couldn't stop talking:)
Revel 9 with this lineup has only been about 6 months, but they are soooo good together already! They've had a very very busy six months;)
Right now they are in the works of a new album and have tons of shows coming up so please keep up to date with their band at www.revel9.com and they have two pages on the book of face....
In fact, they have a very close gig coming up 1/25 at Crossroads in Garwood! If you are free looking for a great night of music/people please head on down and see a sick show! Also check out their current album "The Razorblad Diaries"....I look forward to many more meetings ...
When I first heard the band Reach's song "Pins and needles", I literally got pins and needles in my entire body! Woah, I was blown away by their sound. It was hard to believe this band was a local act, but then again, that's why I created this blog. It's such a passion of mine to find talent right in our area that you may or may not have heard of, and showcase them. There is soooo much talent out there and I find it an honor to be able to bring in bands to the spotlight, to in fact, spotlight them!
And not to my surprise was this band equally as amazing in talent as they were in "real life". Such wonderful personalities we had so so so much fun filming for the blog! The EP I have is in my car and it hasn't left since I ...
Maria Dontas is such a beautiful firecracker as I open up the interview below by saying.....She came into the WDHA studios all by herself and absolutely rocked her own music for my staff and I! She's so petite and adorable, but dont get fooled by her appearance, her voice is loud and her talent is huge!
Maria Dontas is a solo artist who absolutely added a unique flavor to my blog. I've had a couple of solo artists here in the past, but each one has had their own unique style, including Maria. A vibrant soul writing from her "barebones" you absolutely if possible, need to catch her out live performing before she's opening up for national artists.....go now! ;) She has a very large future and journey in music ahead of her!
Maria is playing a benefit this Friday night in Teaneck if you are free please ...
Madysin Hatter is one of the most creative, motivated, and passionate female artists I've ever met in all of the years I've been doing the Homegrown Spotlight on WDHA. From every detail to her merchandise, her music, her cover letters, presskits, her band, herself as a soloist, etc etc etc...She doesnt miss a beat when it comes to marketing her music! There is a certain fire that I see in musicians or for that matter anyone that sets them apart from the "standard" survivor, human. Madysin is one of those people, she is motivated and the fire within her is extrememly obvious. I love it!
Madysin Hatter has a few albums out there right now and the latest release "Pretty Little Fool" is also on Itunes. Madysin Hatter and her band are out there making music and playing shows on both coasts! In fact, she's playing tonight in NY ...
I have been in touch with lead singer Jes Loren and her family for a bunch of years now, which made it extra special to finally meet this band!! They have been supporters of myself and WDHA for as long as I can remember, and in turn, I am a forever supporter/fan of the band Syka! In fact, during the interview below Jes speaks about a Halestorm show which inspired her forever, and it was the same show that I had the pleasure of introducing one of my WDHA Homegrown Spotlight Bands on stage that very night to open up for Halestorm! Isn't it amazing how things work out and sometimes we are in the same places, at the same time, then meet when its the right time;) That's how I feel about Jes and her band Syka!
The band is absolutely phenomenal and have already opened up for ...
The band Milestones and I have been conversing about doing the segment for quite some time, so I was super stoked to finally have them come in and perform for the blog. They are currently located in the Staten Island area, but have grown to realize that supporting bands in all of the tristate area has been beneficial for them, as well as others. We all shared a few laughs when they came in at knowing and supporting the same bands, making the world smaller and smaller. To me, and Milestones, that's what it's all about...supporting your fellow bands and everyone you can in the music industry to make a large family tree of musicians/supporters/fans/DJ's etc!
Milestones came in and did a phenomenal job acoustically. I was extremely impressed by their tight sound and tight knit bonds within the band itself. Young in age perhaps, you will never be ...
I've been talking to Danny, lead singer of the band "Waking Heroes" for a few years now when he was in his former band, "The Crash Moderns" (with guitarist/vocals member Mikey Vranek). I always thought very highly of Danny and his band, even ran into him at one of the bars I worked at a few years ago! We've had a few real life connections, but it wasn't until recently that we finally nailed down a filming for our WDHA blog last week!
The boys came in as our first band in awhile and set the tone for another great phase of filming. The Waking Heroes crew were friendly, talented, appreciative, just an absolute pleasure to work with! Man, can Danny and Mikey harmonize too please check it out during their acoustic performance below.
I wont spoil too much of the interview, but this band has won an ...
I have had the privilige of working with the band Beyond Visible for a few shows now, and I am continuously impressed by their sound, talent, and passion. Their music is "beyond amazing" sending chills under your skin, but also punding beats in your face, to make you move your head, tap your foot, rock.......
Our summer concert series of archives is coming to a close and we'll be posting fresh new bands within the next few weeks, but I had to post an archive from the band Beyond Visible this week, as we were lucky enough to experience a few acoustic tracks from them at WDHA.
For more information on the band, and to check out their debut LP "Creating Change" head on over to www.facebook.com/beyondvisiblemusic . In fact they have two upcoming shows Oct 2 at the one and only Dingbatz in Clifton and 10/11 at ...
The summer is winding down for our summer archives of the homegrown spotlight so look out for hot, new , fresh, material coming very soon in September! Although, I'd like to add onto my summer series with another track this week from the band Black Summer. These guys and I had so so so much fun when they came in to perform. We laughed, got inspired, danced , talked about healthy food you name it!
This band is phenomenal whether they are rocking the stage plugged in, or stripped down and raw acoustic style. They have my love and support always! In fact, support is something they excel in with all bands in the scene!
Please give them some love and keep up to date with these gems at www.facebook.com/OfficialBlackSummerPage as well as www.blacksummerband.com. I am honored to have met this band and been a part of their ...
I don't even have the words to express my love for this band, and I talk for a living. They are just beyond personable, talented, friendly, passionate, supportive...ok fine I found a few words:)
The band New Theory I found by another homegrown spotlight band, Deadfish Handshake, and boy was I beyond blessed for this treasure. The boys invited me down to host a show with both bands performing, and I was blown away by their personalities, hospitality, and of course performance that night. I was forever a fan.
New Theory is currently working on another album and Im stoked and dying to hear it!!!! They are a phenomenal live show so look out for a date near you! For more information on these gems, please head on over to their facebook page at www.facebook.com/NewTheorynj and give them the love they deserve!
I reposted our interview with ...
She Said Fire is a band very fit to their name, and not to sound cliche, but they have been seriously "on fire" with their talent and success. Gems of people in and out of the music industry, I'm really impressed with the path this band has gotten on!
I met the band almost a year ago at a benefit show I hosted, and was floored by their performance, but the amount of growth and dedication they have achieved in the business is just amazing. They took a short amount of time and managed to rock out a solid EP as well as hit the road! They are entertaining and a pleasure to know. Please give them some love and even catch a live show!!! They are performing this Sunday in Staten Island at Killmeyer's Old Bavaria Inn, Arlene's Grocery 9/18 and 10th Street Live 10/5. All of their ...
Scarlet Scourge came into WDHA and performed a few songs for us, so we decided to hook them up with the summer of WDHA Homegrown Spotlight archives! We dug into our vault and brought out another track for you to enjoy! For more information on these gems please head to their facebook page at :
As we roll into our summer archives I'd like to repost "Last Stand For Lucy's" interview and another song they performed at WDHA for us. This song, "Seven", was the first song I ever heard from the band, and got me a fan for life!
These guys are the real deal. They are genuine, passionate, talented, and I'm so blessed to have met them in this industry! Personally their sound is completely my taste, and I listen to their CD in my car all of the time!! I cannot say enough great things about these guys and I encourage you to give their music or even a live show a shot!
For more information please head on over to their online sources including www.facebook.com/laststandforlucy and www.laststandforlucy.com. This band is by far, one of my favorites and have my support always!
As I stated in the last blog, this summer we are taking a break from filming new material and digging into our archives to present you more material from our amazing bands!!!!
This week we will spotlight another track from Nalani & Sarina, two sisters, two kindred musical spirits. Their music and talent brightens up any room they walk into, and if you are lucky enough to see them live, you will be forever touched. They are magical and I adore these two ladies!
Currently they have a ton of dates so please head on out and support them if you can! You can find them at www.facebook.com/nalanisarinamusic. Please support these gems who are a gift in themselves to anyone they cross paths with!
I also attached our earlier interview :)
Every band that comes into WDHA to film for the blog performs a few songs so that I can blog about them more then once. This summer we will be digging into our archives to show the other performances that haven't been blogged yet!
We'll start it off this week with Sweet Cyanide. This band has two memebers in it that were in a former band I played 7 years ago when I officially got my night space position! They will always hold a special place in my heart due to this, so I was stoked to reunite with them and their new band Sweet Cyanide.
For more on this band head on over to www.sweetcyanide.com or www.facebook.com/sweetcyanideNYC . I have reposted our interview and here's another acoustic performance from the band!
I met the band Beyond Visible at a benefit show I hosted this past October, and was immediately impressed. Not only did they do an amazing performance themselves, lead singer Dean Nugent sang for another band during the night, and it gave me chills. I was immediately drawn to the band, and had the pleasure of working with them, and hanging with them at another show a few months back. They are super talented and so much fun!!!
Beyond Visible at WDHA was my first acoustic experience with the guys, and hearing their songs stripped down and raw was incredible! They were tight, and their practice and enthusiasm to come onto my show was absolutely evident.
Please head over to their facebook page at www.facebook.com/beyondvisiblemusic or www.beyondvisible.net. Their debut LP " Creating Change" is due out this summer, so stay tuned!!! They play out live a lot as ...
I heard about the band Midnight Mob from various musicians in the industry long before finally getting them onto the WDHA homegrown spotlight blog. Everyone said they were great people and extremely talented, and boy was the "grapevine" more then right.
Blackey, lead singer of the band, has the sickest chops ever!!! I only met Blackey, Mikey, and "Squeeze" for the homegrown spotlight segment, but the entire band is full of passion and energy from what I know, and have witnessed. Ironically Blackey wasn't even singing in a band before this project. Some things are just meant to be I'd have to say.....
The band has a ton of music videos and are very very unique to my blog, and in general. Their style is simply badass with two hot and powerful females alongside a few phenomenally talented men. I adore this band and everything they've become, and ...
