The universe sent me Dead Fish Handshake I'm convinced....
I was having one of those no good, very bad days, before I met the gents from Dead Fish Handshake. I am personally a pretty optimistic person most of the time, but I'm human. It was definitely a "funk" of a day. It wasn't until the doors of the room were shut and the band started playing, that I started to break down. The band cracked me.....The vocals from Matt and Rob perked my attention, and I started to let myself get carried away by the music.
A good movie to me is one that leaves you speechless at the end. You walk out the cinema doors and start to digest in your mind and body what just happened. Likewise, music does the same to me. A talented band will get under my skin, take me to a place other then where I'm at physically, open my senses, etc. Dead Fish Handshake came on a day I really needed an artistic escape, and boy did they blow me away....
I will always remember meeting these guys and how they changed my personal mood in a matter of a note, riffs, and the vocals kicking in. I told Matthew Paul , lead singer, that his voice reminded me of Shaun Morgan from Seether, and that to me is a big compliment. He's heard many references before , but truth be told, this guy can sing his heart out, and watching him is even better. His voice is amazing, and his emotion behind it, even better. The harmonizing between Rob Ferreira and Matthew Paul is beautiful.....Props to Darren as well, and Mark for his sweet facial expressions and drumming !!!
Dead Fish Handshake is the kind of band you buy their CD, and listen to the whole thing in your car....again and again.....Well that's what I did!!! They have a show coming up with Adema in RI, but stay tuned for NJ gigs electric and acoustic by heading to their facebook page and www.deadfishhandshake.com . Very very excited to be a part of this band's journey and hear the next album they are working on with some great peeps (listen to the interview to find out who!!!)..Check out their debut album right now "Across State Lines".....I am truly a forever fan....
