When you think of Kurt Cobain what immediately comes to mind?
Musical genius? Grunge-rock pioneer? Tragic death?
How about musical theater?
Courtney Love seems to think the latter is an appropriate way to pay homage to her late husband.
Music-News reports that Love and former Britney Spears manager, Sam Lufti, are working together to create either a film or Broadway musical that will draw in elements of Nirvana’s music and Love and Cobain’s lives to tell the story from Courtney’s perspective.
With all of the rumors, speculation and conspiracy theories that have lingered around Cobain and Love’s relationship, the Hole singer is apparently looking to give her account of what “really” happened.
Lufti, who is in the midst of a lawsuit against the Spears family, revealed the project during his testimony on Wednesday (October 24th), stating, “[Courtney Love and I] are currently working on a possible motion picture or Broadway musical based on the Nirvana catalogue, based on her life and Kurt Cobain's”.
He went on to say that the project is still just in its early stages, and he refused to discuss it further.
Lufti is suing the Spears family for breach of contract, unpaid management fees and libel. Spears’ mother wrote her in 2008 book, Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World that Lufti was responsible for drugging and manipulating her daughter.
While there’s no telling if the Love/Cobain project will ever come to fruition, we have a strong feeling the end result would indeed be…interesting.
