Mark Tremonti Wants to Make Wolfgang Van Halen His Permanent Bassist
By: Mike Bober
10/31/2012

The Van Halen bloodline is a pretty good place to start looking in order to find a new member for your band.

Wolfgang Van Halen, who is the son of the famous Eddie Van Halen, has been playing bass for the legendary rock group Van Halen for years now, but he just recently picked up a new side project.

Creed and Alter Bridge guitarist Mark Tremonti started a solo group that was left with a void after his fellow Creed bandmate and regular bassist Brian Marshall dropped out before their world tour.

It must have been fate because as Tremonti told Metal Express Radio correspondent Mick Burgess, ”Wolfgang Van Halen just so happened to be in town when we were rehearsing. He’s a friend of ours. He knew the record already, and already knew how to play it. He was one of the original guys we wanted to have on bass, but Van Halen went on a nine-month tour, so we couldn’t use him. But it worked out perfect.”

Well what started as a temporary fill-in may have developed into something else.

“We’re talking about doing this arrangement for good” Tremonti explained. “Van Halen will always be his priority, whenever they are touring. When he’s not touring, he’ll be with us. He will write and play on the records and, if he is on tour with Van Halen, we will find somebody that he is comfortable with filling in his shoes.”

So it seems as though Van Halen, who were recently nominated for "Favorite Band" for the 2013 People's Choice Awards, will continue to have the upper-hand in Wolfgang's career.

For more on this story, head to the Van Halen News Desk and share your thoughts on Wolfgang becoming a permanent Tremonti member below!
