Grunge-rockers Soundgarden certainly aren’t attempting to be secretive about the music of their upcoming album King Animal.
The band recently dropped yet another track from the LP entitled “Non-State Actor” on Monday (October 30th) along with a video of bassist Ben Shepherd and guitarist Kim Thayil providing commentary on the song.
Thayil explains that “Non-State Actor” is a combined effort between him and Shepherd, with the guitarist having written the song and the bassist providing the politically charged lyrics.
The band released similar video commentaries for the tracks “By Crooked Steps” and “Bones of Birds”, which provide fans with a unique insight into Soundgarden’s writing and recording processes.
Soundgarden’s first official single from the King Animal, “Been Away Too Long” came out in September, and their song “Live to Rise” was released a part of The Avengers’ soundtrack back in May.
The group also announced last week that they would be playing a series of intimate shows throughout the month in support of the record, and are giving those who pre-order the album the opportunity to buy tickets prior to when they officially go on sale.
So far, the concert dates include November 13th at the Irving Plaza in New York City, November 16th at the Phoenix Concert Theater in Toronto, and November 27th at The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles.
King Animal is set to drop on November 13th; it will be the band’s first album is over 16 years.
