For nearly six years, the Bob Woodruff Foundation and the New York Comedy Festival have funded a concert called Stand Up For Heroes; an event geared toward raising money for wounded soldiers and their families.
This year’s show is set to take place at the Beacon Theatre in NYC, with Bruce Springsteen and Roger Waters scheduled to play headlining spots, and military members playing as their backing band.
Besides some of the biggest names in Rock and Roll, the event will also feature appearances by comedy superstars Ricky Gervais, John Stewart and Robin Williams, among others.
According to the BWF website, the goal of the organization is to reciprocate the loyalty that troops have shown to their country by funding programs that help “reintegrate injured service members and assist their families in the transition.”
Since 2006, the foundation has raised over $14.5 million for their efforts, with $10 million of it coming directly from the Stand Up for Heroes concerts.
And although this year’s event is already sold out, the evening’s performances will be streamed live on YouTube and available at Remind.org.
The 6th annual Stand Up for Heroes concert will take place on Thursday, November 8th at 8pm EST.
