Kid Rock has announced the first leg of his "Rebel Soul" tour for 2013, a 17-date run starting February 2 in Kansas City and wrapping on March 2 in Louisville.
Rock and his Twisted Brown Trucker band have already started rehearsing for the trek, and he told us what fans can expect from next year's shows:
"Right now I'm thinking a real clean stage, the band all together, playing together. That's when we seem to play the best. My focus is on the music first. Some of these tours we've done with big stage props and stuff where you spread out the drummer on top of this bar and someone's over there and this, that and the other...It seems like we play together more when we're right there together.”
“So I want to keep the band together, have a real clean look, go on the merit of the music number one. And then with the songs that complement it, kick it into big production and shoot flames and bright lights in your face, just go both ways, whether it's stripped down or there's strippers."
Rock and company will also be playing December 30-31 in Hollywood, Florida, and he'll be adding more dates to his 2013 itinerary. Rock said he's also being pushed to play overseas but isn't sure that will happen:
"They're still trying to talk me into going to Australia, Japan, all that stuff...I'd love to see it, man. I've heard nothing but great things about Australia...It's just far, man. I'm such a, I wouldn't even say homebody, I just feel like I have everything here in America....I'm a big fan of being close to home. I get weird when I get out of the country. I don't know what it is; I just feel goofy about it, man. I just feel a little nervous and on edge."
