Stone Sour is keeping singer Corey Taylor and guitarist Jim Root plenty busy these days, but they still have a new album by their other band -- Slipknot -- in the crosshairs.
It will be the masked octet's first set of new music since 2008, and since the death of bassist Paul Gray, and while Taylor says there will definitely be a new album he adds that fans probably shouldn't hold their breath waiting for it:
"It's gonna be awhile yet...We're throwing demos at each other. Once we all kind of see what the album could be, that`s when we'll go in. I think the worst thing that we could do as a band, and we're different from other bands, the worst thing that we could do is go right in and do something that feels forced, 'cause the fans will see right through that, and we've never done that. So to me it makes more sense to kind of let the album come to us."
Slipknot's last album, "All Hope is Gone," debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and was certified platinum. "Antennas To Hell," a compilation released in July, peaked at No. 18. Slipknot headlines this year's Rock Star Energy Drink Mayhem Festival and plans to play a handful of dates in 2013, including OZZFest Japan on May 11.
Stone Sour, meanwhile, will be touring heavily into 2014 to promote its two-part "House of Gold & Bones" concept albums.
