For Midwest Metallica fans, Christmas came early this year!
The metal rockers announced on December 20th via a video on their website that they will be bringing their 2nd annual Orion Music + More festival to Detroit next year, with dates set for June 8th and 9th.
Details are still being kept under wraps regarding the lineup, but the festival’s official website promises that updates will be released in February. The event is set to take place on Belle Isle; an island park in the Detroit River that sits in between Detroit and Canada.
Metallica headlined both nights at Orion in Atlantic City this past year, playing 1984’s Ride the Lightening and 1991’s Metallica in their entireties, so it’s safe to say that fans can expect to see them put on quite a show at the 2013 festival.
The group also recently revealed that they are in the process of recording a new album, though they are still in the early stages and it isn’t expected out until 2014.
For a more immediate Metallica fix, the band just put out a live concert DVD entitled Quebec Magnetic, which chronicles their two shows in Quebec during their 2009 World Magnetic tour. It is their first official release on their own label, Blackened Recordings.
