Coldplay, Metallica and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are among the Top 10 global tours of 2012, according to the trade magazine Pollstar.
Coldplay ranked No. 4 overall -- behind Madonna, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band and Roger Waters -- taking in $171.3 million from sales of more than 1.9 million tickets during the year.
Metallica played just 30 shows but ranked 8th, with an $86.1 million take and sales of more than 912,000 tickets, and the Chili Peppers landed in the 10th spot, grossing $57.8 million and selling more than 948,000 tickets. Also appearing on Pollstar's Top 50 are the Dave Matthews Band (No. 14), Van Halen (No. 15), Nickelback (No. 18), Radiohead (No. 21), the Black Keys (No. 27) and Aerosmith (No. 44).
The Top 50 tours grossed $3 billion combined, down two percent from 2011 according to the magazine. The full Pollstar year-end chart can be found here.
