Bruce Springsteen’s dedication to his fellow musicians and their well-being has always been apparent, and now, he is being awarded for his actions.
The MusiCares Foundation announced today (January 2nd) that The Boss will be named 2013’s Person of the Year at their 23rd annual gala in February.
The official press release states that Jon Stewart will host the event, and lists the Elton John, Sting, Eddie Vedder, Mumford & Sons, John Legend, Tom Morello, Neil Young and Alabama Shakes as just a few of the evening’s many performers.
MusiCares is an organization dedicated to providing services to music community members in need, in the areas of emergency financial assistance for basic living and medical expenses, support groups for those suffering from addiction, educational workshops and other programs.
With this honor, Springsteen will join the ranks of Bono, Paul McCartney, Phil Collins, Billy Joel, Elton John, Sting, Neil Young, Don Henley and the many more who have been awarded in years past.
The 2013 MusiCares Person of the Year tribute gala will be held on Friday, February 8th at the Los Angeles Convention Center as a part of Grammy week; the concert and award portions of the evening kick off at 9pm.
