Following Scott Weiland’s somewhat frequent comments over the past few months that a Velvet Revolver reunion was on the horizon, Slash has come forward to lay the rumors to rest for good.
During an interview with Classic Rock Magazine, the guitarist left no room for speculation when asked about a VR reunion, stating, “Scott is completely speaking out of his ass. Nobody at this end has had any conversations with Scott on this subject, except maybe Dave Kushner, because he was the only one in the band who was really close to him. And all things considered, we don’t have a good professional relationship with Scott.”
The supergroup, which also consists of Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum and Dave Kushner, fired Weiland from the band in 2008, after which he rejoined Stone Temple Pilots.
It’s speculated that Weiland has since been booted (again) from STP, and Slash believes that’s the reason he’s been hinting at getting back together with his former Velvet Revolver bandmates:
“I think at this point Scott just got fired from STP and I think he’s trying to pull off that trick of trying to get something else going on, and we’re not buying it. The door’s shut on this side and it’s probably shut on that side too, so he’s on his own. And he deserves it too,” Slash explained.
The guitarist closed the topic by saying, “Even if I didn’t have my solo thing going on, I still wouldn’t work with him.”
Slash has a series of concert dates coming up, starting on January 31st in Dubai and running through March 3rd and 4th when he plays a two-night stint at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin. He is also set to play Ozzfest Japan in Tokyo on May 11th.
