Second "Sound City" Single Released
By: Annie Scaramuzzino
1/16/2013

The soundtrack to Dave Grohl’s upcoming documentary Sound City is full of awesome collaborations. Its first single, “Cut Me Some Slack,” featured the surviving members of Nirvana along with Sir Paul McCartney, and rocked the world when “Sirvana” performed it on stage at the 12-12-12 concert for Sandy relief last month.

Sound City – Reel to Real’s second single, “From Can to Can’t,” is yet another mash-up of yesterday and today’s best names in Rock and Roll, with Grohl, Corey Taylor of Slipknot and Stone Sour, Scott Reader of Kyuss and Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick all appearing on the track.

Several of the aforementioned artists are also a part of Dave Grohl’s “Sound City Players;” a group of those appearing both in the documentary and on its soundtrack who are playing to promote the film’s Sundance premiere. Some of the “Players” include John Fogerty, Taylor Hawkins, Chris Shiflett, Rami Jafee, Stevie Nicks, Rick Nielsen, Pat Smear, Krist Novoselic, Rick Springfield, Corey Taylor, Brad Wilk, and more!

It was also recently announced that the supergroup will perform a special LA show at the Hollywood Palladium on January 31st in conjunction with the rock doc’s theatrical debut.

Sound City, which chronicles the stories and music of Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, California, is will be shown at the Sundance Film Festival on Friday, January 18th in Part City, Utah.

For more information, head to SoundCityMovie.com and take a listen to “From Can to Can’t” below and tell us what you think!
