Clear Vision Lands Rights to "Mission to Lars" in Europe
By: Ray Hidalgo
1/29/2013

Clear Vision has secured the rights to the low-budget, yet widely-acclaimed Mission to Lars docudrama in several Western European territories including the U.K., France, and Scandinavia.

Armed with little more than a camera, a tape deck loaded with heavy metal, and orders of Burger King for the road, a caring pair of British siblings endeavored to cross the Southwest U.S. to help their autistic brother meet his hero: drummer Lars Ulrich of Metallica.

Afflicted with Fragile X syndrome, Tom Spicer suffers from impaired learning and narrow-minded obsessions. While this may well explain his extreme fondness of Ulrich and Metallica, it nevertheless inspired the premise of the heartwarming documentary. His sister, Kate Spicer, had one thing in mind when setting her sights on the ambitious project which often experienced financial setbacks.

“Kate’s motivation was simple – she made Tom a promise so she wanted to keep to it,” her other brother, Will Spicer, told the Huffington Post before the U.K. release last June.

Clear Vision will release Mission to Lars in the U.K. on DVD, Blu Ray, and digital on April 8. In the spirit of Tom’s struggle, the DVD label will donate 20 pence to Mencap, a major U.K. charity for learning disabilities.
