Rob Zombie will deliver a new album and a new movie in the same month.
The shock rocker has set an April 23 release date for "Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor," his fifth studio album and first since "Hellbilly Deluxe 2" in 2010. It drops three days before the Zombie-written and directed film "The Lords of Salem," and he tells us that our ears are in for a treat when we hear the new album:
"I really like it a lot. I love it because it's the most creatively free record I feel like I've made in a long time. Different kind of sounds, just different...I wanted someone to hear it and go, 'Wow, I haven't heard that before.' I wanted it to be just different. We went out of our way with the sound so every different song has a very different sound -- different guitar sound, different drum sound, just everything where the sound, the actual sound becomes very important."
Zombie co-produced "Venomous Rat..." with Bob Marlette. He's expected to hit the road later this year to promote the album, and Zombie will also receive the Golden God Award at this year's Revolver Golden Gods Awards on May 2 in Los Angeles, joining Metallica (Ronnie James Dio Lifetime Achievement Award) and Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi (Riff Lord Award) as special honorees.
