Bret Michaels Previews Upcoming Album
By: Ray Hidalgo
1/31/2013

Mentioning “Good Songs & Great Friends” may remind you of that one roadtrip to California with your high school buddies that flew by until your tape deck got jammed; that day at the beach that needed nothing more than a Frisbee, good company, and a radio. Or perhaps it makes you reminisce about your old college roommate’s wedding where the gang flew in from around the country for one wild night driven by an open bar and a sick D.J.

Former Poison frontman Bret Michaels also wants to relive some of his own “Good Songs & Great Friends” memories by bringing the music and influences that were instrumental in his success back to life with a diverse array of musicians in a new album of the same name.

Slated for a March 26 release, “Good Songs & Great Friends” will feature Jimmy Buffett singing alongside Michaels for Buffett's timeless hit “Margaritaville”, members of Lynyrd Skynrd joining in for another round of “Sweet Home Alabama” (sorry, no “Freebird”), and new takes on Poison’s greatest hits, including “Every Rose Has its Thorn” with backup vocals from country sweetheart Loretta Lynn, Henne Music reports.

Various members from other influential bands including, but not limited to, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry and former Van Halen/current Chickenfoot bassist Michael Anthony, both of which reportedly play a big part in the hodgepodge album.

Whether the new takes on the songs are ‘good’ has yet to be seen, but Michaels has certainly surrounded himself with friends who, by music standards, are nothing short of ‘great’.
