Metallica's second Orion Music + More festival will be a freaky styley affair this June.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers will co-headline the event, which is taking place June 8-9 on Detroit's Belle Isle. The group was one of 31 acts announced on Monday (February 25) morning, including Rise Against, deftones, Bassnectar, Dropkick Murphys, Gogol Bordello, Silversun Pickups, Foals, FLAG, Fu Manchu and the Dillinger Escape Plan.
In addition to the five stages of music, Orion will also feature several lifestyle attractions, including James Hetfield's Custom Car & Motorcycle Show, Kirk Hammett's Crypt, Lars Ulrich's Hit the Lights Film Tent and Robert Trujillo's Vans Vert Ramp.
In a statement, drummer Ulrich said that, "Last year's Orion Music + More Festival was hands down the highlight of the Metallica calendar. A great time was had by all, especially the band members. The fact that it also resonated with enough of our fans and friends that it warrants another go-around in '13 is beyond exciting. I can think of no better place than the Motor City, with its rich and diverse history of music, for the second ride on our Orion festival train. Bring it the f*** on!"
Metallica launched Orion in 2012 in Atlantic City, N.J., but according to city officials plans to bring it back to Detroit in 2014 as well. Tickets are currently on sale to Metallica's Met Club members, with members of the festival's E-list getting a crack starting Wednesday (February 27). General public tickets go on sale March 1 for $150.
