Green Day to Kick Off World Tour with Three Intimate Performances
By: Annie Scaramuzzino
2/26/2013

Green Day
may be launching a huge world tour next month, but after nearly six months on hiatus, the rock trio has decided to ease into it.

Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool announced today (February 26th) that they will be playing three shows in much smaller venues than their usual arena concerts to kick off their upcoming 36-tour dates.

The intimate performances will take place on March 10th at the Fox Theater in Pomona, CA, March 11th at The Marquee in Tempe, AZ and on March 13th at Tricky Falls in El Paso, TX.

In other Green Day news, the group’s film ¡Cuatro!, which documents the making of their 2012 album trilogy, ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, ¡Tre!, will make its premiere at this year’s SXSW film festival. Similarly, the Doug Hamilton-directed project Broadway Idiot will also debut at the festival, which tells the tale of the band’s foray into musical theater with their 2010 rock opera American Idiot.

The SXSW Film Conference and Festival kicks off on March 8th and runs through the 16th in Austin, TX with the Green Day scheduled for a live performance on the 15th at the Moody Theater.

Check out Green Day’s entire list of upcoming concert dates below and head to the band’s official website for more info on their upcoming projects.
