AC/DC bassist Cliff Williams recently confirmed that guitarists/brothers Angus and Malcolm Young are hard at work writing new songs for their next album, the follow up to 2008’s Black Ice.
Williams told Backstage Axxess, "The guys are writing material and when they've got some stuff together, they'll give us a holler. We're still getting over the last tour, so we're just hanging out and doing stuff."
Williams revealed the brothers usually write the songs together and then share them with the rest of the band, including lead singer Brian Johnson and drummer Phil Rudd, before shaping the record as a band.
“They (Malcolm and Angus) get a bunch of ideas together. Some are more together than others — and then we’ll all hit the studio or a little rehearsal room and we’ll kick it around with a producer. And then we get in a studio and record, and that’s kind of how it runs,” Williams explained to Backstage Axxess.
The news should be a relief to fans who heard back in January from Brian Johnson on Florida radio’s The Cowhead Show (via The Daily Telegraph) that one band mate’s illness would put studio time on hold.
Johnson stated, “Hopefully this year we can get back together again. One of the boys is a little sick. I can't say anything, but he's getting better.”
We can't wait to see what the Youngs and the rest of AC/DC have in store!
