When it comes to paying tribute to a band, KISS superfan Mitch Lafon certainly knows what he’s doing.
In celebration of the band’s upcoming 40th anniversary, Lafon, who is a journalist for Classic Rock Magazine and Pure Grain Audio, is spearheading the effort for a KISS tribute album that features some of Rock and Roll’s heaviest hitters.
Lafon is using the crowdfunding site Pledge Music to back the project, the proceeds of which will go to the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care residence; a cancer hospice center located in Hudson, Quebec that cared for his late father-in-law.
The album, which will be entitled A World With Heroes, will be recorded by Bumblefoot (Guns N’ Roses), Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake), Terry Ilous (Great White), Phil Lewis (LA Guns), Rex Brown (Pantera, Kill Devil Hill), Don Dokken and more.
Some of the tracks will include “Detroit Rock City,” “Only You,” “Larger Than Life,” “Forever,” “Little Caesar,” “Master and Slave” and “Hard Luck Woman,” Classic Rock Magazine reports.
According to the Off Island Gazette, all of the musicians are working on the album for free, as is the Nashville mastering house involved in the project, but paying for the music's royalties will be a big expense.
Currently, the album has hit 43% of its goal, with 23 days left for pledges to be made.
