Following a mishap last year that caused the UK's Glastonbury Festival to be canceled, we are happy to report that the legendary gathering of musicians is back in full-force in 2013 and headlining some of the best that rock has to offer.
At the top of the list is the diverse trio of the classic, legendary Rolling Stones, folk rockers Mumford and Sons, and the indie group Artic Monkeys; the variety of style between those three reflects the diversity of the rest of the line-up which also includes The Smashing Pumpkins, Primal Scream, Public Enemy and more.
According to the BBC, many of the festival’s organizers are calling the scope of the event unprecedented with one of them, Emily Eavis, noting, “It is something we never thought we'd be able to pull off - a dream booking.”
Tickets are already sold out (although there will be a resale of unsold tickets sometime in April) but a new dimension to the festival will let anyone with Internet catch a glimpse of the action. The BBC will offer live streams of each stage for all to see.
“On desktop, mobile, tablet and connected TVs, we will bring BBC audiences closer to the music they love by offering a full performance or festival-goer experience for those who can’t be there,” BBC Acting Director-General Tim Davie told the UK’s Metro in February.
Glatsonbury Festival will run June 26-30 in Somerset, England.
