Since the tragic death of Adam Yauch (MCA) last year, it’s been unclear if the surviving members of the Beastie Boys will continue on under the band’s now infamous name. Regardless of what they decide, though, the trio of rappers who revolutionized hip-hop has had quite an amazing career; so amazing in fact, it’s being chronicled in a new memoir.
The New York Times reports that Michael Diamond (Mike D) and Adam Horovitz (Ad-Rock) have signed a deal with the Random House imprint Spiegel & Grau for a book that’s due out in 2015.
Much like the group, who have become known for marching to the beat of their own drum, the book won’t be as straight-forward as the regular format of memoirs that have been released from other artists and bands.
Publisher Julie Grau told The New York Times that Diamond and Horovitz are “interested in challenging the form and making the book a multidimensional experience.”
Grau went on to say of the book, which is being edited by hip-hop journalist Sacha Jenkins, “There is a kaleidoscopic frame of reference, and it asks readers to keep up.”
The project will also feature contributions from other writers, visual elements and more.
