Since being booted from Stone Temple Pilots earlier this year, Scott Weiland has been staying active, playing shows with his band the Wildabouts and prepping for a new album.
Now, it looks like his former band is moving on as well, as STP has scheduled their first new show since parting ways with their notorious frontman.
Blabbermouth reports that the group, which consists of brothers Robert and Dean DeLeo and Eric Kretz, has announced that they will join forces with former Guns N’ Roses members Slash and Duff McKagan to perform at the ninth annual MusiCares MAP Fund benefit concert, which supports musicians recovering from addiction.
Slated for May 30 at Los Angeles’ Club Nokia, Linkin Park’s Chester Benning and pro skateboarder, Tony Alva are set to receive the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award and the From the Heart Award, respectively, for their donations and dedication to the fund.
Benning and Alva will also perform at the event (Alva with his band the Chicken Noodle Project), and the talents of Mix Master Mike and the Ida Maria Band will also be featured during the evening.
The benefit show will mark STP’s first live performance since September.
