The group has posted a teaser online about its next album, streaming a portion of a new song that will ostensibly be part of the band's sixth studio album, which is expected to be released this summer.
It will be AX7's follow-up to 2010's "Nightmare" -- its first No. 1 title on the Billboard 200 chart -- and frontman M. Shadows tells us that it's become very important for the his band to take time between albums in order to make them right:
“I think bands burn themselves out. Look what happened to Disburbed; those are good friends of ours, and you just get caught up in the do a record, tour for two years, do a record, tour for two years. We're being very cautious of making sure that everybody has their time. We need to go home. When we go home we all hang out with each other. We live down the street from each other. Me and (Synyster) Gates are married to twin sisters and they're best friends and it's a total family thing we have going on down there. We just need to make sure everybody's mentally in the right spots before we do a new record.”
Shadows has referred to the new material as “a classic metal record” with "a lot more of a (Black) Sabbath and (Led) Zeppelin feel to it."
More information about the album is expected soon. AX7 has three festival dates booked for the summer -- Rock USA on July 13 in Oshkosh, Wisc., Heavy MTL on August 10 in Montreal and the Bethlehem Musikfest on August 11 in Pennsylvania.
