Linkin Park may have announced in February that they were done with U.S. performances for the year, but the group revealed yesterday that they will headline the Sunset Strip Music Festival in Los Angeles later this summer.
In the official press release, lead vocalist Chester Bennington said of the festival, “We started our career playing clubs on The Strip. It’s a thrill to be back where it all began, headlining this festival in our hometown.”
According to the festival’s site, Linkin Park’s August 3rd performance will benefit Music for Relief, a group which supports disaster relief and works to reduce the effects of global warming.
In past years, the festival has featured headliners Ozzy Ozbourne, Motley Crue and the Doors. The sixth annual event, which runs through the first three days of August, will also include a tribute to a soon-to-be-announced music legend at the House of Blues.
Stay tuned for information on additional acts for the 2013 Sunset Strip Music Festival, which the festival plans to roll out on their website over the next few weeks.
