Rock and Roll lovers have been abuzz since Pearl Jam announced last week that their new studio album, Lightning Bolt, would be hitting shelves by this fall.
Now, guitarist Mike McCready has taken it upon himself to get fans even more excited for the release, promising during an interview with Total Guitar (via MusicRadar) that those who like Pearl Jam are “going to love it” and those who don’t may change their ways.
Of the recording process, McCready revealed that the iconic grunge rock group hit the studio back in 2011 to begin work on Lightning Bolt, but later had to “pull back.”
“We finished seven songs two years ago and we had to take some time to figure out what we wanted to do. And write some more songs,” McCready explained to Total Guitar. “So about four months ago we started up again with a brand new batch of songs to go along with those.”
Among those songs is the band’s first single, “Mind Your Manners,” which hit the airwaves last week to positive reception from fans.
So, what is McCready’s overall review on the band’s follow-up to 2009’s Backspacer?
“I think it's going to be really cool record and I'm very excited about it,” the rocker told Total Guitar. “Every artist says that about their new thing but I feel like we've been through a long journey to get there and it was totally worth it.”
Lightning Bolt is due out on October 15 via Monkeywrench Records. In support of the album, Pearl Jam will embark on a series of North American tour dates this fall, beginning on October 11 in Pittsburgh and running through December 6 in Seattle.
