Courtney Love has jettisoned the Hole moniker and is now touring under her own name, with new music and a memoir due later this year. Love tells us the first thing we'll hear is a double A-sided single featuring the songs "California" and "Wedding Day:"
"They're both A sides, but they couldn't be any (more) different. But it's not my usual, I don't have any Fleetwood Mac reference on it 'cause I always have a Fleetwood Mac reference on it as well as having, like, a big Black reference...It's my own very unique songs. It sort of magically happened. They both did. They're both very inspired songs...One is, like, a really, really tight punk-pop song and it's almost got -- I hate saying this. I grew up with these guys and went to high school with these guys. I never thought I would say this in my life but it's got a little bit of a (Red Hot Chili) Peppers tinge to it. A little teeny twink on 'California.' I don't let loose on it; I mean, there's no screaming dynamic, quite-loud-soft-quite-loud. It's a smooth song."
Love hopes to have the songs out by the winter holidays, when she also plans to publish the as-yet-untitled autobiography. A full album will follow in 2014.
Love also appears in the video for the new Fall Out Boy single "Rat a Tat," reprising her guest appearance on the recorded version.
