Heavy metal bassist, Geezer Butler of Black Sabbath, will be honored next month at the all-star concert and awards show, Bass Player Live! 2013.
According to BassPlayer.com, the concert will be held at the Fonda Theater in Las Angeles, California on November 9 and include guests Jason Newsted, Sebastian Bach and several other Rock and Roll stars.
“Terry ‘Geezer’ Butler is my No. 1 influence and greatest teacher of electric bass in heavy metal music,” says Newsted (via Blabbermouth.net). “All true metal bassists look up to Geezer as a pioneer and godfather of our chosen instrument. The best, ever.”
The tribute band will perform Black Sabbath songs, with Butler joining them on stage for a finale.
Comedian Jim Norton is set to host the awards show and he commented, “Geezer Butler is simply the most underrated bassist and lyricist of all time.”
In addition to the concert, there will be a musician clinic over the weekend where bass players of all ages are encouraged to attend.
Meanwhile, Black Sabbath continues on their South American tour, with their next concert slated for October 15 in Esplanada do Mineirao, Brazil. The band is touring in support of their latest studio album, 13, which was released in June.
