There will be some headbanging this fall as Five Finger Death Punch and Volbeat hit the road for a 27-date U.S. tour starting September 16 in Salt Lake City and wrapping up October 25 at the Big Red Night of the Dead Festival in Phoenix. Hellyeah is billed as the tour's "special guest," while Nothing More will open each show. FFDP's Zoltan Bathory says the teaming is something the two bands have wanted to do for quite some time: FFDP's Zoltan Bathory on finally touring with Volbeat by GMI Rock News "Actually, us and Volbeat, it's been years that we've been talking about touring together. We just could never put it together, schedule-wise...We've been playing in festivals in many places together, but...We tried to do this, actually, for two years now. It's just always they are in Europe, we're in Europe. We could just never get it together, and finally this is actually happening. We've been talking about it for practically years." Bathory added that the coupling will work to the advantage of both groups: FFDP's Zoltan Bathory on the advantages of touring with Volbeat by GMI Rock News "When we were putting this together, really, it was pretty much, 'How do we put together bands that are diverse enough, yet we share a fan base, and bands that have a serious draw?' And Volbeat and us right now, together it's going to be a very powerful package. We're really looking forward to it 'cause it enables both bands to play in front of a bigger audience than we could do on our own, 'cause the people that they draw and we draw, even though they share a common interest, it's still different." Both groups will be active during the summer leading up to the tour as well. FFDP will be playing festival dates in the U.S. and Russia prior to the tour start, and Bathory says the group has also been working on new material, with plans to get back in the studio later this year or the beginning of 2015 for a spring or summer release. Volbeat, meanwhile, is in the midst of a U.S. run that wraps up May 10 and will spend the summer playing festivals in Europe. The full tour FFDP/Volbeat fall tour itinerary includes:
