KISS bassist Gene Simmons will be playing himself on TV again. This time the star of A&E's "Gene Simmons Family Values" will make a guest appearance as himself on the July 10 NBC premiere of "Welcome to Sweden," a new sitcom created by Amy Poehler's younger brother Greg Poehler. The latter stars in the series, which is based on his experiences after moving to Sweden in 2016. Simmons confirmed the guest appearance on his web site, writing that, "While we were in Europe on the last KISS tour I was asked to be in a new show called 'Welcome to Sweden' being filmed there." This is just the latest of Simmons' activities outside of Kiss, which co-founder Paul Stanley tells us has sometimes irked him: "There have been times where I've been very angry and resentful, and I'm not saying momentarily.I'm saying for long periods of time...That over years has been an ongoing theme in our relationship, but time is the ultimate judge and the fact that we've been together at this point for 40 -- my gosh, 44 years, almost -- says volumes...We're brothers. I mean, I know that in a pinch I can count on him and he knows the same, and that doesn't take away from the fact that I think he's done some pretty crummy things, but that is because of who he is and his issues." Stanley has also worked away from KISS, including solo albums and tours, acting (in "Phantom of the Opera" on stage) and painting, but he contends KISS has always been his first priority. The group returns to the road June 23 for its summer North American tour with Def Leppard.
