To say this past week has been a big one for Linkin Park would be quite the understatement. First, their new album, The Hunting Party, was released on Tuesday, and per HitsDailyDouble.com, it’s projected to sell between 110,000-120,000 copies. Then on Wednesday, the band was inducted into Guitar Center’s Rock Walk. Mike Shinoda was blown away by the honor and in a recent interview with Meltdown from Detroit’s 101 WRIF, he elaborated on just how serious the powers-that-be at Guitar Center take the Rock Walk:
“I was shocked by that. It was just such a cool thing. We got to put our hands in the concrete, and they’re gonna have that out front. Those are out there forever. In fact, it’s so permanent; it really struck me how serious that was. They do a backup of hand prints. Like, you do your hand prints that they put in the front on the sidewalk in front of the building, and then they also have you do a second one, in the event that there’s, like, an accident or an earthquake or whatever, they get cracks or messed up. They want to be able to replace it, so they want them there forever.
As if they didn’t have enough on their plates, the band also managed to pencil in a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night (June 19th). Their performance of “Until It’s Gone” and “Guilty All The Same” is embedded below. Linkin Park better get used to this type of schedule. Their summer tour with 30 Seconds To Mars and AFI begins August 8th and has 27 stops scheduled.
