Ted Nugent reaches a new landmark this weekend when he plays his 6,500th show on Saturday (July 19) at the DTE Energy Music Theatre in suburban Detroit. Nugent began his performing career during the summer of 1958, joining guitar teacher Joe Pedorsik on stage at the Michigan State Fair, and five years ago he played his 6,000 show at DTE as well. Nugent, who had both knees replaced earlier this year, says he continues to be powered by his band, which includes longtime singer Derek St. Holmes, bassist Greg Smith and drummer Mick Brown, all of whom appear on his latest album, "ShutUp&Jam!:" "It's Ted Nugent and the Subhuman Mongrels. It's a great band...These guys are hot to trot...The camaraderie and the brotherhood and the laughter and the excitement level, God, it's gotta be what everybody dreams of for their workplace. I'm such a lucky motherf***er, and these guys so love the same kind of music I love. It's so painless." "Shutup&Jam!" came out July 8, and Nugent and company will be on the road until mid-August, including a performance at the Sturgis Rally on August 6 in South Dakota.
