I don’t know about you, but new music can make any Monday feel…well, not like a crappy Monday. And today, both Godsmack and Weezer have decided to treat everyone to new cuts off of their upcoming albums.Following up on the success of “1000hp,” Godsmack have released the 6:12 “Generation Day,” which Sully Erna said, in a recent interview with Grammy.com, is “about the new digital world taking over the music industry” and how listening to an album has completely changed.
Needless to say, it’s a much more heady experience than the “turn that sh*t up louder!” energy of “1000hp.”Weezer, on the other hand, kicked off the promotional campaign for their new album Everything Will Be Alright In The End today with the release of “Back to the Shack,” their first new song since 2010.
The song definitely wreaks of vintage Weezer and begins with the lyrics, “Sorry, guys/ I didn’t realize that I needed you so much/I thought I’d get a new audience/I forgot that disco sucks.” Don’t know if that’s a veiled reference to Rivers Cuomo’s appearance on the 2010 B.o.B track “Magic,” but I’m glad Rivers is back doing what he does best…and realized that disco does, in fact, suck.
