You won't find Linkin Park's members crying over the fact that the group's new album, "The Hunting Party," was the first since its 2000 debut "Hybrid Theory" not to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album bowed at No. 3 in June, but the group's Mike Shinoda tells us it's something he and his bandmates have taken in stride: "Although it didn't debut at No. 1 in the States, it debuted at No. 1 in...67 countries, so I don't feel like that's anything near a failure. But some friends of mine in the U.S. said, 'Hey, I heard. Sorry about that, you guys didn't get to No. 1 on the charts'...I feel like the Billboard chart is for one thing; it's for first-week albums sales, and this is not really a first-week album sales kind of album. It's a statement album. It's a live album, an album that's meant to be taken to the stage." Singer Chester Bennington adds that, "It's funny, 'cause I think probably more so than any other record, maybe other than possibly (2010's) 'A Thousand Suns,' I feel like critically the record's been overwhelmingly positive, like, I have yet to read anything negative about the record on a critical level from anything that's been written, which is pretty amazing. So for that we're pretty grateful." Linkin Park kicked off its Carnivores Tour with Thirty Seconds to Mars and AFI over the weekend, unveiling a 30-song set that featured five songs from "The Hunting Party" and an extended DJ solo by Joe Hahn. The tour continues through August 24 in Toronto.
