“The Metal God” has some pretty lofty words on Judas Priest’s latest album Redeemer of Souls. Rob Halford recently sat down with Rock Cellar Magazine and chatted about a variety of topics, but when it came to talking about the new album, he didn’t hold back.
“There’s a sense of purpose we definitely have on this record,” said Halford. “I think ten years from now this will be revered as one of the greatest metal records ever made. I don’t say that lightly. Just knowing how everything works, it feels that good. It was just pouring out from the heart.” I guess we’ll have to wait ten years to see if Halford is right. …In other Priest news, the 1992 documentary Dream Deceivers is now available for the first time on DVD. The documentary highlights the lawsuit Priest faced where they were famously accused of putting subliminal messages on their records that were blamed for the death of fan Ray Belknap and the suicide attempt of James Vance.
Dream Deceivers can be purchased through Amazon, but why has it taken so long to be released?
According to Center for Media and Social Impact, because Priest’s music was so heavily used in the film it took documentary maker David Van Taylor a long while to get clearance from Sony for a DVD release.
Better late than never.
The current state of the band could not be any better. They are on tour at this moment promoting the new album and will be until the end of November. Tour dates and other information can be found on JudasPriest.com.
