There's been a lot of drama about Aerosmith's “Let Rock Rule” tour recently over the health of drummer Joey Kramer. The group canceled one show, in Concord, Calif., after Kramer underwent a "minor medical procedure," and his son Jesse filled in for a subsequent show in George, Wash. Otherwise, however, the tour has gone swimmingly according to Slash, the former Guns N' Roses guitarist who's opening the shows with his band the Conspirators featuring Myles Kennedy. Slash tells us that, "It's awesome. It's a great tour. It's very, very rock 'n' roll, and there's nothing else really like it out there and the crowds have been great. F***in' Aerosmith is kicking ass. It's actually raising our game a little bit, and those guys are in the highest spirits I've seen them in a while. So we're having a blast." Slash and GNR famously toured with Aerosmith in 1988, when the headliners were in their early days of sobriety and the upstarts were...well, not. Slash says nobody's having flashbacks on the Let Rock Rule tour, but the camaraderie is strong: "Y'know, there's something there. I couldn't put my finger on it, but there's definitely a vibe. Working with the same band, I've been friends with those guys ever since then, so when we go out on stage it's different in some ways but then at the same time there's certain similarities that, like I said, I can't really nail down. But there's a certain feel that is a little reminiscent of back then." The tour wraps up September 12 in Nova Scotia, while Slash and company are preparing for the September 15 release of their new album, "World On Fire," and subsequent touring that includes a run of legendary Los Angeles clubs before a European tour begins on November 10 in Dublin, Ireland.
