Despite legal battles, “wrongful terminations” and other drama, Queensryche rocked the stage once again!
Blabbermouth reports the official debut of the new Queensryche—sans singer Geoff Tate—at this year’s Halfway Jam in Royalton, Minnesota, went better than just "okay".
The band, including guitarists Michael Wilton and Parker Lundgren, drummer Scott Rockenfield, bassist Eddie Jackson and new vocalist Todd La Torre, headlined the last day of the show on July 28th.
The band had previously played two shows under the name Rising West in Seattle, WA, but this was their first official show with the new lineup using their "maiden" name.
Original members Wilton, Jackson and Rockenfield won a legal motion against Tate on July 13th, which would have prevented them from continuing to use Queensryche as the band’s name.
And, while we're thrilled that Queensryche continues to make sweet music and have launched a new website, Tate and his wife Susan, Queenryche’s former manager, aren't exacly jumping for joy.
According to Blabberrmouth, the couple awaits for their lawsuit against the band to go to trial, and are claiming that Tate was wrongfully fired, among other things.
