Queensyrche Fires Back at Former Lead Singer
By: Mike Bober
10/3/2012

Are two Queensryche’s better than one?

Original Queensryche members Michael Wilton, Scott Rockenfield, and Eddie Jasckon certainly don’t think so.

The legal battle between the original Queensryche and the newly formed Geoff Tate version of the band has been going on ever since June, when Tate was dismissed after 30 years with the group due to alleged disputes over creative control and turmoil among him and his bandmates.

Queensryche is now filing against its ex lead-vocalist in attempt to make him stop using the band’s name.

If this sounds familiar, it’s because Tate filed nearly the same lawsuit a couple months ago, but the court ruled the original members could continue use of the name.

However, the ruling also did not forbid Tate from using the band’s name.

Bassist Eddie Jackson explained to Billboard, "Until now, we have never asked the court to intervene on our behalf but it seems like we have no choice now in light of Geoff's recent actions. We thank the fans who have been supporting us through this whole process and can't wait to unleash the one true Queensryche to the masses."

"The new Queensryche”, which is made up of Geoff Tate, former Megadeth guitarist Glen Drover, Quiet Riot bassist Rudy Sarzo and Ratt drummer Bobby Blotzer, may have to come up with a more original name if they lose the trial, which is set for November 18th, 2013.

Queensryche is putting together a series of 2013 concert dates called the Return to History Tour, while Tate’s version has yet to release their possible performances.
