Rumors Fly About a Potential New Rage Against the Machine Album
By: Gary Graff
10/5/2012

Has the loosely reunited Rage Against The Machine decided to make a new album?

That's the buzz after TMZ ran into bassist Tim Commerford at a cafe in Malibu; when asked if the group was working on a new album, Commerford responded "Maybe...maybe," which was enough to send speculation through the roof.

Rage's last album, "Renegade," came out in 2000, and the group disbanded after that, with Commerford, guitarist Tom Morello and drummer Brad Wilk forming Audioslave with Soundgarden's Chris Cornell.

Rage re-formed to play the 2007 Coachella festival and has played period shows since then, including the L.A. Rising festival it housed in July of 2011 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the group's formation.

Morello, who's currently busy as his protest-singing alter ego The Nightwatchman, told us it's never a good idea to hold your breath for Rage to do anything:

"That's the one thing; from the band's inception we've done things like we want to do them. We don't do them on anybody else's timetable but our own.

“The band doesn't really have, like, a manager or the normal sort of infrastructure that bands have that answer those important questions."
