Nickelback Songs Among Top 100 of the Past 20 Years
By: Annie Scaramuzzino
10/9/2012

Despite the fact that Nickelback jokes are about as common as tattoos among rock fans, it doesn’t seem as though being a punch line has affected the group’s popularity.

In a recent list of the Top 100 Pop Songs of the last 20 years from Billboard (via Yahoo!) Nickelback appeared the most frequently, with songs like “Far Away” (No. 49), “Someday” (No. 91), and “How You Remind Me” (No. 11) all making the cut.

The Canadian group were also the only rock band to be featured on the list, surrounded by pop singers, rappers and pop/rock bands like Maroon 5, the Goo Goo Dolls and Simple Plan.

Also making the Top 100 was fellow Canadian artist and Chad Kroeger’s fiancé, Avril Lavigne, with her 2007 hit “Complicated” (No. 73).

Rankings are based on how well songs have measured on mainstream radio based on when Billboard started using Nielsen BDS-based monitoring technology in October of 1992.
