Chris Cornell Responds to Billy Corgan’s Comments
By: Mike Bober
11/14/2012

Soundgarden
released their first new album in 15 years, King Animal, this week, and while fans of the group may feel that they have “Been Away Too Long”, there’s one person who disagrees.

Smashing Pumpkins singer Billy Corgan claims the grunge-rockers’ reunion is all about money, recently telling a Filipino publication:

“I was a fan of Soundgarden, but call [King Animal] for what it is. They’re just out there to have one more round at the till.”

Now, Soundgarden’s frontman Chris Cornell has responded to Corgan’s statement by giving insight to ABC News Radio about a time where Corgan needed some money:

“When Billy Corgan was completely broke, I got him a movie deal with [director] Cameron Crowe where he made $40,000,” Cornell explains. “He was very happy about that, and he was specifically happy about the $40,000.  So next time you see him, tell him owes me my $40,000 back.”

In other Soundgarden news, the famed shoe company Converse has announced a limited-edition sneaker in collaboration with the band and their new album, Hennemusic reports.

The Soundgarden Chuck Taylor All Star is black and features artwork from King Animal and the new Soundgarden Logo. It is limited to only 60 pairs between the unisex whole sizes of 6-13.

Call us crazy, but we’re not sure Billy Corgan will be picking up a pair…
