Before now, the only reason the second Wednesday of December was notable was because the date would be 12-12-12. Fun to date your papers with, but overall, underwhelming.
Well, the following announcement is anything but underwhelming!
The date now plays host to the “12.12.12” benefit concert, which is being held for one night only in New York City’s Madison Square Garden to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Sandy.
The event will feature an all-star cast of artists, with Jon Bon Jovi, Billy Joel, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Roger Waters and The Who all scheduled to make appearances.
“12.12.12” will not only provide the country with a chance to see some once-in-a-lifetime live performances from some Rock and Roll royalty, but will also support those still battling in the aftermath of Sandy through a “text-to-give” campaign.
All proceeds from the evening will go to The Robin Hood Relief Fund, which has a mission to provide money, supplies, and know-how to the local organizations serving those in regions hit hardest by the storm.
