It looks like Scott Weiland may be looking for another band to front…again.
In a recent interview with a Minnesota radio station (via Classic Rock Magazine), Slash speculated that his former Velvet Revolver bandmate has been fired by Stone Temple Pilots.
The guitarist’s comments came in response to Weiland recently announcing that he would be “completely open” to reuniting with Velvet Revolver; he was let go from the super group for behavioral problems in 2008, after which he rejoined STP.
Slash explains, “That’s because he got fired from STP. I think, all things considered, because these things always catch me by surprise, too, because I only find out about it through the media. I'm on the road in another country and I start hearing all this stuff, so I inquire within, and that's what I was told.”
Weiland also claimed earlier this year that he and Velvet Revolver were planning to write new material together after the group played a charity concert in January. Slash dispelled those rumors as well, stating that Weiland was “out of his mind.”
And while there has been no official statement from Stone Temple Pilots on whether or not Scott’s time with the band has ended, it doesn’t look like the guys of VR will be welcoming him back with open arms any time soon.
