Fortunately for residents of the UK, the experience of flying is well underway to becoming a little more Rock and Roll.

First, the Liverpool airport was renamed John Lennon Airport; the city in which Lennon and some of his fellow Beatles reigned from.

Now, Big Bear Music boss Jim Simpson has proposed that Birmingham-born Ozzy Osbourne get a similar tribute.

According to Birmingham Mail, the idea came after plans for a Black Sabbath Day in Birmingham were postponed.

Simpson, who still wanted to pay proper homage to some of the city's most famous residents, suggested, “How does The Ozzy Osbourne International Airport resonate? The message that would carry is instantly international, confident, powerful, unforgettable and says ‘Hey World, we are proud of our own’.”

Regarding the rocker’s sometimes outlandish behavior, the music mogul stated, “Ozzy might not always have been a paragon of virtue, but he is a genuine flesh and blood Brummie.”

Earlier in 2012, a program called ‘Destination Birmingham’ was in talks by the Birmingham city council, which thought an airport dedicated to the Prince of Darkness could be a step in the right direction in boosting tourism.

No confirmations have been made on whether or not the plan will be carried out, but if it does, we have a strong feeling that diehard Sabbath fans could be booking some deliberate layovers on their future trips.

Ozzy and Black Sabbath are currently in the studio recording their first album together since 1978’s Never Say Die!; the LP is due out in April.
